Snowman cupcakes recipe – no baking – no piping, just really easy and cute cakes. These winter-themed cupcakes are great fun to make with your whole family. They make the perfect Christmas party food or winter birthday treat. They’ll be loved by children and adults alike – and your kids will love helping to make the adorable fondant snowman sitting atop a beautiful vanilla cupcake.
Christmas is all about baking, but sometimes we’re so hectic with other things, it’s nice to be able to create something impressive with minimal effort.
Just grab yourself some pre baked and iced cupcakes to top with cute snowmen – we used these impressive little cupcakes from Tesco, you can you use any you like. Use different colours of fondant icing to create little coal eyes, coat buttons, and a black hat. Finally, finish your snowman with a bright orange fondant icing carrot nose.
Making these snowman cupcakes is just as much fun as building an actual snowman. But, you get to eat these ones in the end!
Each year me and my kids are literally willing it to actually snow outside so that we can build a snowman (or two). It’s just such wholesome fun. Putting all the parts together – body, head, arms, legs, and the finishing touches of eyes, carrot nose, and hat. Not to mention watching the kids’ delight as they see him come together!
Decorating snowman cupcakes is so good for your kids
And I’m sure you and your kids will appreciate following this precious snowman cupcakes recipe too! Decorating cakes is so good for younger kids – it’s interactive, hands on, and creative. They’ll be honing their fine motor skills too. All that rolling, pinching, pulling strengthens their hands and warms their hearts.
Snowman cupcake ingredients
Here’s what you need to make these gorgeous yet easy snowman cupcakes.
- Pre-made cupcakes – I used 6 vanilla flavoured cupcakes of an 18 pack from Tesco, which cost £7.
- Fondant icing: black, and orange (I used yellow and red) to make coal eyes, buttons, and a carrot nose.
- Matchmakers for arms: so perfect for little sticks!
- Optional: cake glitter spray, using a squirt of glitter is so much fun and adds a lovely winteru sparkly effect
Equipment
All you need is some cake modelling tools. If you haven’t seen these before they are really handy when you’re doing anything with fondant icing. They’ll take your cake decorating to another level! I got mine from Morrisons but you can get them cheaply from Amazon.
Storage instructions
Store your snowman cupcakes in an airtight container. They’ll keep for up to 5 days.

These are so cute! I would eat these as an adult. You could also use Marshmallows too for something like this. Thank you for sharing – Ash 🙂
